October 2013 General Practice Accreditation Surveyor of the Month
Michael, from Hobart, is a relatively new member of the GPA Surveyor team, but has already attended 13 survey visits for us. He communicates well and, by all reports, he has built a positive rapport with both co-surveyors and practices.
Only two weeks ago, Michael agreed to attend three survey visits for us at very short notice. Another surveyor had to cancel as she was ill, and Michael generously moved around his busy schedule to attend these visits. This was much appreciated by those of us in the GPA office, as well as the practices concerned. Michael agreed to receive the documents electronically, returned his completed documents promptly, and was extremely helpful and accommodating. Thanks again, Michael!”

Operations Manager, GPA
“In 2012/2013, Michael was part of a research team appointed by Self Help Workplace (an Australian Disability Enterprise) to develop a youth employment strategy. The research involved many elements, including a literature review, survey design, conversations with young people (15-24 years), data analysis and reporting. Michael bought many skills and strengths to this project including:
- a keenness to understand our business and the drivers of change and the policy context for the project;
- respect for and appreciation of the views and attitudes of young people with a disability;
- ability to identify and consult with key stakeholders and opinion leaders;
- identification and analysis of critical issues and research findings;
- presentation of the data and other material into a cogent and useful report for decision makers.

He was responsible for a significant streamlining of procedures within the practice, resulting in much greater efficiencies as well as more effective use of resources and cost-savings. He has operated as an effective mentor and trainer and has helped to evolve documentation as required by emerging industry standards. Michael has also worked closely with website designers and optimisers to greatly lift the internet profile of the practice.”
