Arbour Health and Academy3 have partnered with Health Recruitment Plus (HR Plus) in the delivery of targeted, subsidised and accredited training to its members.
The Skills PLUS program has been designed based on feedback to assist practices to increase efficiency and productivity, especially within the every changing environment of healthcare. On offer are six accredited training modules which are mapped to nationally recognised units of training. The modules consist of:
- Learning Circles will be established. Each group will consist of three to five participants. It is expected that each student will participate in six hours of learning circles for each training module.
- It is expected that participants will receive up to six hours of one on one mentoring within their workplace. The specific agenda for the one on one session will be negotiated between the learner and the mentor based on skill / knowledge gaps within the relevant units.
- Students will also be given access to a variety of multimedia resources through the Learning Circles and mentoring stages, including videos, case studies, and academic journal articles.
Who is this for?
Practice managers and /or members of their team who wish to undertake one particular module, or all modules. The program has been designed to encourage
- Experiential learning – learn from the observation and experiences of your peers through the interactive dialogue in the Learning Circles
- Flexible learning – you can negotiate with the mentor when your one on one sessions are, and what the agenda will be to meet your direct training needs
- Work based learning outcomes – all activities will be based on what you need to do or deliver within your practice.
When is it?
Registrations begin mid April to commence in May. Training to be completed within 12 months.
Where is it:
Venue to be advised for learning circles (dependent on location of participants) and in your practice for mentoring.

Develop competence and confidence in your role as Skill Plus is directly relevant to general practice. You also get access to Michael Sims a highly qualified trainer with both academic and practical industry experience.
Cost:
$450 per module … great value! HR Plus secured 80% place funding from Skills Tasmania under the Federal Productivity Places Program. As such there are only limited places … so don’t be late with your enrolment
