2013 was a busy year for the Arbour Health Team and here are a few highlights:
Aged Care Workforce Innovation Network (AWIN) Regional Projects- An ‘Attraction, Recruitment and Retention Strategy with Action Plan’ is being developed to assist the aged care services sector in Tasmania to bridge the gap between the current workforce and the target (future) workforce. The project is a collaboration with Leadership and Change Consultants that draws on industry expertise from across Tasmania.
Common Ground Tasmania (CGT)- Conducted base line interviews with formerly homeless tenants as part of longitudinal research into the efficacy of CGT’s approach to ending homelessness. Data related to the tenants’ overall health and wellbeing is captured via iPad and will be monitored and reported on periodically.
Self Help Workplace & Encore Clothing– Project involved gathering information about the aspirations and support needs of existing and potential younger employees with a disability (aged 15 – 24 years) in the greater Launceston area. The project was specifically designed to support the strategic objective of maintaining quality outcomes for people with disability while operating a viable commercial enterprise.
Co presented “Building a business around the expectations of young people with a disability” at the NDS Employment Forum and Workability International Conference 2013 (Gold Coast, QLD). More than 470 people drawn from national and international employment service providers, government departments, people with disability and their families and carers attended the conference.
Skills PLUS Program– Designed to assist Practice Managers increase efficiency and productivity, especially within the ever-changing environment of healthcare. Six accredited training modules, mapped to nationally recognised units of training, were offered. Small group and one-on-one mentoring was provided, along with a variety of multimedia resources to support adult learning.
Searson Buck- Engaged to compile market research for the purpose of strategic planning. This included identifying commercial opportunities within the external environment from data sources such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Dunn and Bradstreet reports.
